- טִינָּא, טִינָּהf. (טנן) 1) moist muddy ground, clay. Y.Kil.II, 27d top, a. e., v. גְּרִיד Y.Shebi.II, 33d עפר עושה לה ט׳ by covering it with earth he prepares for the plant a muddy ground. Y.Kidd.III, end, 65a (prov.) מוליכין ט׳ אצל ט׳וכ׳ mud is carried to mud, and thorns to thorns. Deut. R. s. 5, beg.; Yalk. Prov. 938 מפני הט׳ on account of the moist soil. 2) (cmp. זִימָּה a. טְנָנָא) impure thought, lust. Ḥag.15b ט׳ היתה בלבם there was impurity in their hearts (heathen sensuality). Snh.75a העלה לבו ט׳ a vehement passion seized him (which threatened his health).
